The port city of Sunderland is located 10 miles from Newcastle-upon-Tyne and is on the River Wear’s mouth to the North Sea. In Sunderland, there’s nice running on paths along the River Wear. We also love the seafront run, which includes a promenade, parks, coastal bluffs, and the runnable Roker Beach. South of Sunderland, we’ve put together a 6-mile loop combining Barnes Park & Silksworth. Herrington Country Park is also a nice running option.
