Antibes is lovely resort town that is just south of Nice. There’s a nice route between Nice and Antibes, along the the palm-lined Route du Bord de Mer (D6098) It’s very runnable, with a decent sidewalk and shoulder, and good water views. Some sections are right along the beach. It’s 13 km from the Nice Airport to Antibes. A train runs along most of this road, so a one-way run is possible!
Other Routes in Antibes
On the western side, is the town and health resort spa of Juan-les-Pins, while the town of Antibes, whose Picasso Museum contains one of the world’s largest collections of the artist’s work, is located on the east side. There are 48 beaches along the 25 km of coastline of the peninsula. The are several good options for running in Antibes:
Juan Les Pins. Source: BestBeaches.com
Western Side. Boulevard Maréchal Juin, offers a pleasant waterside run, for 2.6 km (1.6 miles) from the town of Juan-les-Pins to the famous five-star Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc. The running is on the road, in a narrow pedestrian lane alongside cars, with views of the water on one side and fancy homes (many with walls) on the other.
Eastern Side: This is our preferred route — a lovely 5 km coastal run from the town of Antibes to Garoupe Beach. From town heading south, there’s a 1 km coastal promenade between the Musée d’Archéologie to Pointe des Pendues. Then, it’s very nice along the main road, Blvd. James Wyllie/de Bacon/de la Garoupe, for 2.5 km to Garoupe Beach. There’s a good sidewalk most of the way and a couple of narrower sections, with water views in parts though there are some walls/hedges in sections.
Peninsula Run. A run around the Peninsula is 7.7 km (4.8 miles). Mostly coastal roads with good views, and then a 1.5 km interior section along Blvd. J F Kennedy. We recommend doing that and then taking the 6-minute train between Antibes and Juan-les-Pins, rather than the 2 km not so pleasant road connecting the towns.
