While the Promenade des Anglais is the famous run in Nice, we’ve also put together this 10k ‘runseeing’ tour that features a nice variety. It’s a bit of a create your own route tour, with four elements: Promenade du Paillon, Old Nice, a loop around the port, and the hilltop Colline du Château Park (the hilly part of the route). It’s easy to do a longer or shorter version of this. Pro Tip: Go early for for a quieter run in Old Nice.
Start in central Nice along the Promenade du Paillon, a nice green space with fountains, gardens, and a reflecting pool. Then, explore Old Nice, which lies between Place Masséna and the train station. We use Av. Jean Médecin as an anchor to explore the streets. Sites include the Place Masséna plaza, Basilique Notre-Dame, and lots of shops!
Head back toward the water and use Prom. des Anglais east for ~1.3 km to the Nice Port. There’s nice running along the Quai on both sides of the port, with lots of fancy boat and people watching. Conclude the route with the [optional] Colline du Château. This scenic hilltop park features great views of the city and the water. There are several viewpoints, and a waterfall. There are roads with sidewalks, pedestrian-only paths, and stairs — all sorts of options to get the cardio going! Note: the park is hilly — it’s a ~60m climb.
Add-Ons: Promenade des Anglais goes for 4 km west to Parc Phoenix.
