There are some terrific running opportunities incorporating the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) campus, including pedestrian paths around its modern buildings, an innovative running track, and extensive paths around adjacent parks and fields. The university is located about 5 km south of the center of Odense. We’ve mapped a couple of route options that can be used as a guideline!
Short Loop. This 5.7 km route follows the pedestrian Campusvejmulti-use path for a good part of the way. From the parking lot near the football ground, do a ~2 km loop around the modern buildings of the main campus, and then follow the scenic path around the ‘Active Living‘ hiking area just west of campus. Conclude with the unique running track at Atletikstadion, a crazy athletics track with artificial hills and obstacles. It was voted one of the world’s most innovative running facilities by World Athletics!

Longer Loop: This route explores the paths and green spaces on the outskirts of the campus. Starting at the parking lot, do a lap or two around the unique running track, and then run on the paths along the east side of the golf course. Then, enjoy a loop around Hollufgård park, which has scenic paths around farm fields and woods. Head back north, either on the path along the west side of the Odense Golf Course, or our mapped route around the ‘Active Living‘ hiking area just west of campus.
Add-Ons: For a super long run, continue west to Hunderupskoven, which has some nice wooded paths, and adjoins our Odense River/Munke Mose route.

A lovely 'runseeing' tour of Odense with some nice variety: the historic center -- and all things H.C. Andersen -- then, sections of the Odense River Paths, Munke Mose Park, & Ansgar Anlæg Park.
One of our favorite runs in Odense is to combine Munke Mose Park with paths headed south along the Odense River. It's up to 4.5 km one-way, and is basically one large green space. Good add-on options.
This route explores the paths along the Odense River headed east for ~5 km to Åsum. As an alternative to an out and back, we've created a grand, ~14 km loop around outer Odense, nearly all off-road. Also Munkedammen Park add-on.
Among the most scenic runs in the Odense area. You can run north of the city along the river up to the Odense Fjord, on an off-road path featuring uninterrupted water views for 10+ km. Great Views!
An enjoyable 7.5 km loop connecting several parks in western Odense: Havneskoven Park, Åløkke Skov & Snapind Skov, and a nice running track at Odense Atletikstadion, next to Bolbro Parken.
For a worth-it destination run, drive 1/2 hour north of Odense to run along the Baltic Sea in the Hasmark/Enebærodde area. Up to 9.5 km along a beach road/path to the Enebærodde Fyr lighthouse, with scenic views the whole way.
