There are some terrific running opportunities incorporating the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) campus, including pedestrian paths around its modern buildings, an innovative running track, and extensive paths around adjacent parks and fields. The university is located about 5 km south of the center of Odense. We’ve mapped a couple of route options that can be used as a guideline!

Short Loop. This 5.7 km route follows the pedestrian Campusvej multi-use path for a good part of the way. From the parking lot near the football ground, do a ~2 km loop around the modern buildings of the main campus, and then follow the scenic path around the ‘Active Living‘ hiking area just west of campus. Conclude with the unique running track at Atletikstadion, a crazy athletics track with artificial hills and obstacles. It was voted one of the world’s most innovative running facilities by World Athletics!

Longer Loop: This route explores the paths and green spaces on the outskirts of the campus. Starting at the parking lot, do a lap or two around the unique running track, and then run on the paths along the east side of the golf course. Then, enjoy a loop around Hollufgård park, which has scenic paths around farm fields and woods. Head back north, either on the path along the west side of the Odense Golf Course, or our mapped route around the ‘Active Living‘ hiking area just west of campus.

Add-Ons: For a super long run, continue west to Hunderupskoven, which has some nice wooded paths, and adjoins our Odense River/Munke Mose route.
