The path along the Vilaine River is a good running option in Rennes. The flat, easy Prom. des Bonnets Rouges runs along the north side of the Vilaine River, extending east toward Cesson-Sévigné. It’s a festive scene, with a lot of joggers and walkers, a water sports centre where people go for kayaking and rowing, and more. Water views most of the way and several parks. We’ve mapped 6.5 km one-way to Parc de Champagné. The surface is stone dust. The part of the path near Rennes city center isn’t that scenic. It gets nicer and more pastoral headed east.

We start in the center of Rennes near the Fine Arts Museum. Run along the Quai path, and then onto the north side. Some features along the way: a running track at the Sports Complex (km 1), Vertugadin terraces (observation point), and fitness machines. At the 5.5 km mark, the path crosses a small island, and then enters the Parc de Champagné. Just across the way is another running track at the Stade Roger Belliard.
Add-Ons: Another nice add-on, just south of Parc de Champagné, is the Parc du Bois de la Justice/Parc de la Monniais. Can also combine with our other central Rennes routes.

A pleasant run combining three medium-sized parks near the center of Rennes: the fields of Saint-Martin Prairies, the larger Parc des Gayeulles, and the classic 18th-century Parc du Thabor with its landscaped gardens. Route includes a running track!
One of our favorite runs in Rennes, and a good option for a longer route. A path along the Vilaine River heads south for 5 km to the Apigné Lakes, where one can do a nice lake loop of ~4 km. Combination of water views and pleasant woods.
