The path along the Vilane River is a terrific running option in Rennes. The flat, easy Prom. des Bonnets Rouges runs along the north side of the Vilane River, extending east toward Cesson-Sévigné. It’s a festive scene, with a lot of joggers and walkers, a water sports centre where people go for kayaking and rowing, and more. Nice water views the whole way and several parks. We’ve mapped 6.5 km one-way to Parc de Champagné.
We start in the center of Rennes near the Fine Arts Museum. Run along the Quai path, and then onto the north side. Some features along the way: a running track at the Sports Complex (km 1), Vertugadin terraces (observation point), and fitness machines. At the 5.5 km mark, the path crosses a small island, and then enters the Parc de Champagné. Just across the way is another running track at the Stade Roger Belliard.
Add-Ons: Another nice add-on, just south of Parc de Champagné, is the Parc du Bois de la Justice/Parc de la Monniais. Can also combine with our other central Rennes routes.
