Vilaine River Path to Apigné Lakes

Creative Commons. User:XIIIfromTOKYO

Probably our favorite run in Rennes is the path along the Vilaine River south to the Apigné Lakes. Doing this route from Rennes makes for a nearly 15 km including a full loop of the lake. But there are options to just run the river path or just do the lakes.

From the center of Rennes, take the Quai de la Prévalay path on the south bank of the river, headed south for 5 km to the Apigné Lakes. It’s a pleasant gravel path with nice water views. Once at the lakes, the path itself continues south for many km. We then do a 4 km loop around the perimeter of two lakes, although a  shorter loop 2k loop is also possible. The terrain at the lakes is a combination of wooded and open terrain, with some occasional lake views. Retrace your steps to the start.

Add-Ons:  The path Vilaire river path continues south for many km. Or, in central Rennes, choose a section of the Vilaine path headed east or our parks route.
