Sarajevo Olympics Sites

This is a pleasant 5 mile run, showcasing some of the sites from the 1984 Winter Olympic Games hosted by Sarajevo. There was a lot of destruction from the war, but some of the sites are still intact or have been refurbished.  Start, appropriately, downtown at the Olympic Museum, which features exhibits from the XIV Games. Head east and then north on paths for 2 km through Veliki Park, Malki Park, and Koševo Park to reach the “ZOI’84” OLYMPIC CENTER arena, Ice Arena, and Olympic Stadium. Do a loop around the stadium, and then run for 1 km on pleasant paths through Park Betanija. Then loop back for the return, using Patriotske lige, passing a running track and several cemeteries. Use Čekaluša for the last section, a decent road passing several embassies.

Bobsled Run: If you’d like a different type of running experience incorporating Olympics sites, head south of the city to the Trebevic Viewpoint, where you can run up the bobsled track from the 1984 Games, now turned into a paved path. Note: It’s a serious climb — 400m over 4.25 km. ROUTE INFO
