Ecclesall Woods & River Sheaf Walk

Creative Commons: Neil Theasby

This is another nice run in the Sheffield Round area south of town. Explore 300 acres of lovely trails in Ecclesall Woods, a network of signed footpaths through deciduous woodland and along pretty streams. Particularly lovely in the spring with the blooming bluebells. A loop of the trails is 3-4 miles.

Ecclesall Woods can be combined with a nice section path along the River Sheaf, anchored around Millhouses Park. It’s 2.3 miles between the Archer Road Nature Reserve and Twentywell Ln., with nice views of the water and park-like greenery.

  • Ecclesall Woods is 3-4 miles around the perimeter; River Sheaf section is 2.3 miles one-way
