In the central and historic section of Daegu, we’ve put together an 8 km ‘runseeing’ tour, with loops around several small, important parks and passing by some of the city’s most important sites. The most significant of these parks is Daegu Dalseong Park.
Start at Jungango metro station. Head south, using Gukchaebosang-ro, for a short loop around February 28th Jungang Memorial Park. Continue south on Gukchaebosang-ro to the uniquely named National Debt Repayment Movement Memorial Park, where there are pleasant paths passing by the Daegu Metropolitan Library and the impressive National Bond Compensation Movement Memorial. Exit the park and head north on Dongseong-ro 5-gil (decent sidewalk) for 0.5 km, LEFT on Jungang-daero, then immediate RIGHT, on a pedestrian walkway passing the Samsung Insurance building. Head north to see some key sites: House of Yi Sanghwa, Gyesan Cathedral, & Daegu Jeil Church, making your way to Cheongna Hill (some nice views). Optional add-on: running track just across the Sinnam Metro station.
Next, use Dalseong-ro toward the sprawling Seomun Market, and take a stroll through! Continue along Dalseong-ro to Daegu Dalseong Park, which is the most significant park on our route. The spacious, hilly park features scenic paths and a small zoo. A loop of the perimeter path is 1.3 km. The final ~1.5 km of the route is a straight shot along Bukseong-ro — not the most scenic — and passing through Gyeongsang-gamyeong Park, which features the Daegu Modern History Museum and a 500-year-old Zelkova tree. There some smaller side streets if you prefer.
Add-Ons: For more, there are additional paths in the parks (or you can do some laps!).
