Taos Ski Valley: Best Running Options

A popular ski area in winter, Taos Ski Valley maintains several trails for running during the summer months. You can find numerous running events here throughout the season, but for a non-competitive run, our favorite route is the Williams Lake Trail. It’s technically part of the Carson National Forest, but begins from the base of the ski resort. From here, it’s 2 miles to the lake, which features great views and some mildly challenging elevation gain. TRAIL MAP AND INFO.

Northside at Taos Ski Valley, a park on the north end of the mountain, is another local favorite for more challenging trail runs. Pick up a permit from the trailhead kiosk and you’ll have access to miles of intermediate and expert level trails. The trails are well-maintained and well-signed. MORE INFO.
