Top 25 Thanksgiving ‘Turkey Trots’

Thanksgiving Day has become the biggest day for road races in the United States, with some 1 million people running a ‘Turkey Trot’.  These races raise millions of dollars for charity as well. In honor of these wonderful, inspirational events, we’ve put together this list of Top 25 Thanksgiving Turkey Trot Runs  — the largest, most historic, most scenic, and unique Thanksgiving Day road races in the country. Turkey Trot Chicago

The major Turkey Trot event in Chicago, going on 44 years. 44,000 run this 5k or 8k race, which is centered around the Turkey Tailgate. Thanksgiving morning, Lincoln Park.

Las Vegas Turkey Trot

Six Tunnels to Hoover Dam Las Vegas Turkey Trot (Half marathon, 12k, 5k, and 1 mile options). One of the most unique and scenic Thanksgiving Day Races. Also options for a quite challenging race!

Des Moines Turkey Trot

The locals bill it 'the greatest turkey trot in the universe'. Perhaps a stretch, but it's a popular event and a scenic route, incorporating the Courthouse, Capitol, Des Moines River, and the Botanical Gardens. 5k & 5-mile options.

Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot

The Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot is one of the largest multi-event races in the country, with 8-mile, 5k, and virtual options. Some 20,000 runners!

Cincinnati – Westrern & Southern Turkey Trot

Started in 1908, Greater Cincinnati's turkey day run is the oldest race in the midwest, sixth oldest race in America, behind only the Boston Marathon and a handful of other nearly century-old events.  And... cross the Ohio River — twice!
