Features:
The National Park and adjacent Ubpark are the best places to run in Ulaanbaatar. It’s a center for all sorts of outdoor recreation activities: cycle paths, basketball & tennis courts, a swimming basin, and outdoor exercise equipment. Note the landscsape is very open — hardly any trees! Bonus: most of the paths are lit at might.
For running, there are a few options:
- Loop Trails in Park. The paved cycle paths within the park are popular for running. The Outer Ring Trail is 1.5 km, and the Inner Ring Trail is 0.9 km.
- Bicycle Rd. This is a paved multi-use path that is just outside the main park. There’s a 2.8 km loop to the east, and the full Bicycle Rd. is nearly 4 km. Combine with the Outer Ring for a 5+ km run! There are also additional dirt paths headed east
- Ubpark Cycle Trail. Just south of the main park, a paved trail extends for 7 km. It comes off Ikh Mongol St. across from the Ikh Mongol Plaza. It’s a straight, flat shot — open and exposed. It can be combined with some of the other non-paved trails in Ubpark.
