Valencia, Spain

El Saler Beach & Albufera Natural Park

El Saler is noted as one of the best beaches in Valencia, with fine white sand that’s great for running. The beach is tucked into a wetland natural area with miles of dune-laced trails (which might be soft sand). For a scenic run, you can run on the beach one way and return via the Albufera Natural Park trails of the barrier beach which runs between the ocean and the Pobles del Sud.

Run to El Saler from Downtown: For a long run, use the bike path which connects the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (downtown) with El Saler. The path is about 10 km one way — so it’s a good choice if you want to run to El Saler, spend the day, and take a bus back. Lots of runners use this long, flat route for marathon training purposes. It’s also a popular cycling route. Some of the path is alongside busy roads and there are a few tricky rotaries and street crossings.
