There is more great running along the waterfront of the Playa Ancha peninsula just to the west of Valparaíso. Much of the route is above the water, with great views. The concrete path (more of a wide waterside sidewalk) begins at Playa San Mateo and follows the Altamirano highway north. It bends along the point, then continues south as the road becomes Camino Costero. There’s a great gradual hill climb that ends at the Mirador Viento Sur. Runners can enjoy this stunning overlook on the Pacific before turning back towards town. The route is 8 km out and back.
