Monte da Guía: Scenic, Hilly Run!

Creative Commons: Zarateman

This is a scenic, challenging run to a restored 16th-century hilltop hermitage, where you’ll be rewarded with fantastic views of Vigo and its estuary. The route involves a nice, flat section along the water, with views of the Monte da Guía, and then a 1 km, 100m climb to the top. We suggest parking at the Praia da Punta (beach) parking lot.

Start with a nice 1 km out and back on the paved waterfront path along the beach. Then, run for ~1 km along the Paseo Borde maritimo do monte da guia, a flat path along the base of the Monte. You’ll then begin the run up the hill, on a roadside sidewalk following the Travesía Espiñeiro/Camiño Espiñeiro/Camiño Montiño/Av. de Dona Fermina. There are great views from the summit, and a sculpture & chapel to explore. For the return, retrace your steps.

Essentials
  • 5.6 km (3.5 miles) out and back
  • 150m (493 feet)
