Vigo, Spain

Parque de Castrelos, Senda do Lagares, Paseo de Coia

Creative Commins: José Luis Filpo Cabana

This is a pleasant 10k route in the more modern section of Vigo highlighting three parks: the Parque de Castrelos, with its historic gardens; the path along the Rio Lagares (river), and the narrow, linear Paseo de Coia.

Start at the Porta do Atlántico sculpture, and head west along the Paseo de Coia — a narrow, shaded park that parallels Av. de Castelao for 1.8 km. Then, use Av. de Castrelos to run to the Parque de Castrelos, a pleasant park with hilly paths and historical gardes at its east end. Exit the south end of the park for the final section: a 2.7 km loop on paths along the Rio Lagares (Senda do Lagares), which is pleasantly shaded and park-like. Can also run for 2 km west on the Senda do Lagares from Parque de Castrelos  to Av. da Florida.

Shorter Option: Can eliminate any the Paseo de Coia or Rio Lagares sections!

Longer/Alternative Option: The Senda do Lagares also extends west of Parque de Castrelos for 2 km to Av. da Florida. So, the entire Senda do Lagares is a 6.7 km route of its own.
