Parlez-vous Francais? St. Boniface is the largest french speaking community in all of Western Canada, and it’s a real treat to explore the architecture and culture of this Franco-Manitoban ward of Winnipeg. A running tour of St. Boniface, on the eastern side of the Red River, will take you past the stunning Roman Catholic basilica of the St. Boniface Cathedral, around St. Boniface University, and up to Whittier Park for a look at Fort Gibraltar, once a meeting grounds for fur traders and now an interpretive center and wedding venue. You’ll spend more time navigating sidewalks than some of the other runs in Winnipeg, but you’ll feel like you’re getting a history lesson while you run. And if you need to get back to town, it’s just a short run over the Esplanade Riel back to The Fork or downtown.

Waterfront run with options along the 'river forks' for which Winnipeg is famous, with views of the water and the city's iconic bridges. One option is from the Riel Bridge to the Maryland Bridge along the Assiniboine River, while another route heads south along the Red River.
The Wellington Crescent path is one of the most popular runs in Winnipeg for good reason. It’s a long, winding paved multi-use track with a good mixture of natural and urban scenery.
Assiniboine Park has everything you could ever want in a public city space: a zoo, a sculpture garden, playground, outdoor theater, water views, and excellent running with accommodations.
Just south of Assiniboine Park, this regal stand of oak and aspen is one of the largest urban nature parks in Canada, and a perfect spot to escape the city crowds and spend some quiet time in the great outdoors. Paved, boardwalk, and woodchip terrain.
This tour of the University of Manitoba and King’s Park is a nice jaunt along the Red River for anyone in the southern sector of Winnipeg. Depart on campus or the Pembina location of the Running Room store
Birds Hill is a nice diversion from downtown Winnipeg at the sacrifice of less than half an hour’s driving time. This park has it all: run through the shade of a rare cedar bog, trek through the sand around Kingfisher Lake, or power up Griffith’s Hill for some scenic views.
