The paths along the Bahe River offer one of the best opportunities in Xi’an for a longer, seamless run. It’s possible to run for nearly 16 km on paved multi-use paths on the north side of the river, primarily in the Baqiao District. There are good views of the river and city skyline. The paths generally pass under the bridges, allowing for an uninterrupted run.

The heart of the route, and a central starting point, is in the area of Chang’an Tower in Xi’an Expo Park. There are ~2.5 km of paths along the river through the park. The popular route is to continue west from the park for up to 6 km to just past Huaxia Water World, paralleling Baliu E Rd. Or, you can head east for up to 8 km toward Baling.

There are also paths on the south side of the river, though not as scenic or continuous.
