For a scenic and bucolic run, we recommend the loop around the pond at Qujiang Pool Park. The relics park, located in the Yanda district 6 km from the Bell Tower, dates back to the Qin Dynasty (221 BC-207 BC) as a royal garden. It was rebuilt as a scenic and recreation spot and opened in 2008.
For runners, it’s a treat to run the 3.2 km loop around the “pool” (more like a pond). Sites include House in the Woods, Yunge Pavilion, Willow Dam (a long dam with willows on both sides), and a traditional Chinese style Changguan Teahouse. There are numerous gates to access the park.
Add-Ons: Head north toward the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda (dating to the 7th century) and Tang Paradise, which is a popular cultural theme park. There are walking paths in this area, and running might be OK when not crowded. You can also run a loop on the very wide roads around Tang Paradise: Furong Rd., Yanta Rd., & Cien W Rd.
