Maine: Southern Coast

York: Beach, Cape Neddick, Mt. Agamenticus

York is a coastal town in southern Maine, especially popular with families in summer. There’s great running variety here, from a flat beach run to a jaunt out to a lighthouse or the challenging road up Mt. Agamenticus. For a great longer run, combine our Long Sands Beach run with a tour of Cape Neddick, 6.3 miles. Our highlights:

Long Sands Beach. Run on Rt. 1A alongside the beach with great ocean views. Best section is the 1.6 miles between Camp Eaton and Nubble Rd. The beach itself is also very runnable. MAP

Cape Neddick. A 2-mile tour of Cape Neddick, with good ocean views and the Nubble Lighthouse. Use Nubble Rd., then Broadway St. to Kendall Rd. to Ocean Ave. Ext. MAP

Mt. Agamenticus. For a challenge, run the road to the summit of Mt. Agamenticus. It is 0.6 miles with an elevation gain of 270 feet, and 8-9% grades!  MAP
