A run along the Promenade des Anglais in Nice is a classic seaside run, and an iconic spot in the Côte d’Azur. The waterfront promenade (called ‘Le Prom’) runs for about 7 km (4 miles) along the water, between central Nice and the airport, with good views of the Mediterranean, harbor, boats, and mountains in the distance. On a nice day, there’s always lots of activity along here this palm-lined route: runners, walkers, bikers, skaters. The Promenade has an interesting history: In 1820, when a particularly harsh winter up north brought an influx of beggars to Nice, some of the English proposed a useful project for them: the construction of a walkway (chemin de promenade) along the sea. Since then, of course, Nice has expanded upon the project. On a more unfortunate note, the Promenade was site of a brutal attack in July 2016, when a truck was deliberately driven at revelers celebrating Bastille Day, killing 84 people.

Our route incorporates the Quai des Etats Unies — sort of an eastern extension of Prom. Anglais and is close to Vielle Ville (old Nice), and provides access to beaches.

Add-Ons:  Fun to add elements of our Nice ‘Runseeing Tour‘, which takes in 1.2 km of the Prom route. Can also add more waterfront running by heading east toward Villefranche-sur-Mer
