Banff: Golf Course Loop

Wikimedia Commons

The Golf Course Loop run has everything: pretty paved road along the famed Banff Springs Golf Course, then sections through woods, past meadows, and along the Bow River with great mountain views. This is also one of the longer runs one can do in Banff along an uninterrupted, relatively quiet road. It’s mainly flat, with two short, steep hills.

Starting from the Banff Springs Hotel, Golf Course Rd. runs for 3 km along the golf course. Then, bear left on the road to do a counterclockwise loop of 5 km keeping the golf course on your left. At the 4 km mark, the road becomes gravel and leaves the golf course, passing through woods, along fields, and then a section along the Bow River. There are great views the whole way. This road is especially pretty in fall. For a shorter option, just to the 6 km out and back, eliminating the 5k loop. NOTE: Road closed November to May.

Essentials
  • Full loop is 11.1 km (6.9 miles)
  • 251 feet - mainly flat with two short, steep hills
  • Banff Springs Hotel
