Malacca ‘Runseeing’ Tour

Flickr: Heng Hau Yeo

This route is a link to a 7 km ‘Heritage Walk’ designed a few years ago by the American Express Foundation, which placed signs along the major points of the route. The folks at malaysia-traveler.com have put together a nice map of the walk, labelled with points of interest. We recommend doing this route early in the morning, to beat the heat and the crowds.

The route starts at the Tourist Information Office, in Dutch Square. Major points of interest include major churches, mosques, museums, sites related to the era of Dutch colonial rule, sections of the River Walk, Kampung Morten (village of traditional Malay houses), Bukit Cina (China Hill), numerous important streets lined with historic homes, and Jonker St. (Jalan Hang Jebat).

Add-Ons: The best add-ons are paths along the River Walk and for a pretty hillside run, Bukit Cina.

Essentials
  • ~7 km loop
  • Fairly flat
  • Tourist Information Office, Dutch Square
