Visitors to Cardiff are often keen to visit the Castell Coch, a 19th century Gothic Revival castle about 6 miles north of the city in Tongwynlais. Runners who visit will be met with a special treat in the network of gravel paths sprawling across the Forest Fawr here. These trails are wooded and serene, but smooth and non-technical enough to make even the most dedicated road runners fall in love with the trail. The most popular option here is a loop beginning on the Taff Trail and circling out to the north car park and back. From the castle, it’s about 5 km. Take a bonus tour of the castle before or after your run!
Add-Ons: Explore the numerous additional trails around the castle.
