While good street running is hard to come by in Morocco, one of the better options for a longer jog is the “Meknes Road,” also known as the Route Principale Fez Meknes. This 57 km route leads west from the center of Fez all the way to the city of Meknes. While runners can take on an out and back of any length, the best section of wide sidewalk stretches 5.7 km from the Agdal to the Université Euro-Méditerranéenne de Fez. West of that point, runners will have to rely on the road’s shoulder.

Run the streets of Fez’s pedestrian friendly medina (Fes El Bali) on our 8 km ‘runseeing’ tour. Highlights include the city walls, gardens, and leather tanneries.
Some of the best running in Fez is located in the Forêt d'ain Chkef, a shaded forest located just south of the city center. Here, runners can find over 5k of smooth gravel and dirt pathways.
The Parc Champ de Course is one of the larger green spaces in Fez. Runners can form a 1 km loop around its palm trees, paths, and gardens, then add on a jaunt to the Jardin de Nouveau Méchouar and back.
The Avenue Hassan II mixes the best of road running and park running together with a lovely median that spans ~2 km down the street.
This moderate trail run departs from the bustling streets of Fez and heads through farmland to great views of the city below. We’ve mapped a 7 km (one way) course.
