The University of Guelph, a major university with 24,000 students, is a major aspect of the City of Guelph. The campus is located just south of downtown, and is pleasant for running, with pedestrian paths and a mix of building styles. Create your own run here, making sure to take a few laps around the running track at Alumni Stadium or the Gryphon Soccer Complex. The Gryphons are consistently one of Canada’s better track teams.
Johnson Hall, University of Guelph. Wikimedia.
We also suggest incorporating the gorgeous trails around The Arboretum, a part of the university just east of campus. This is a significant arboretum, with 400 acres of terrain and 12.5 km of scenic trails through natural forests, fields, plant collections and gardens. This trail list has excellent information on the different trails. ARBORETUM MAP

Create your own route. Many km possible, including 12.5 km in the Arboretum.
Downtown, or just south of downton (College & Gordon St.)
Easy access from downtown. Parking on campus. For Arboretum, main entrance is off College Ave., but there's also pedestrian access from the University campus
A lovely run through several parks along the Speed and Eramosa rivers, which merge in downtown Guelph. Gravel surface, featuring a nice combination of woods, water views, parks, and fields. Numerous options for loops, add-ons, or combinations with adjacent trails.
A pleasant run on the gravel Speed River Trail/ Royal Recreation Trail along the Speed River, as far as Guelph Lake. Includes the attractive Riverside Park, the Guelph Lake Dam, and a nice waterfront section along Guelph Lake.
In the southwestern part of Guelph, there's a series of several parks, bound together by a section of the Royal Recreation Trail. We've created a 10k route to use as a guide, but there are lots of options here to create your own route too.
