Lake Willoughby is a beautiful Vermont Lake, popular in summer for swimming and in fall for the gorgeous water and mountain views. Rt. 5A travels for 5.2 miles between Willoughby North Beach and Willoughby South Beach. Running along Lake Willoughby is a favorite running route owing to the water views (especially at the south end) and the colors of Winter Mountain & Mt. Pisgah. About 1 mile of the route is on Old Rt. 5A. Note: Narrow shoulder. There isn’t a lot of traffic on this road, but caution is urged — especially during foliage season. Best to go early!
