Sempione Park (Parco Sempione) is one of the largest and prettiest parks for running in Milan. There are important sites and monuments, landscaped paths, pleasant green spaces, and a historic castle!. Overall, there are 4-5 km of paths in the park. The park is very safe so it is the choice route if you have to run alone. NEW: Paths have been upgraded with new surfaces, better signage, and fitness zones that cater to runners. There’s a running track at Arena Civica Gianni Brera.
Our 4 km mapped route begins at the Arco della Pace (Arch of Peace). Run past some of the most important Milanese historic buildings including the Civic Aquarium, & Civic Arena, the Castle of Milan (Sforza Castle), with its museums, and the Palazzo dell’Arte (“Palace of Art”).
Add-Ons: For a good add-on, run 2.2 km tree-lined Corso Sempione between Arco della Pace, and Piazza Firenze. There’s an improved, dedicated jogging path. Another good add-on is to run in the Brera neighborhood, just to the east of the park. You can run for ~1.5 km over to the Giardini Indro Montanelli (Indro Montanelli Gardens), Milan’s oldest park, which has 2-3 km of paths around lovely 18th-century gardens. You can also enjoy some of the smaller streets and lanes. Also, Via Guiseppe Verdi and Via Dante.
