State park located 15 miles north of Iowa City is a popular recreation area and a good spot for a destination run. 5-mile multi-use trail along the lake and 7 miles of easy-to-moderate trails suitable for trail running.
1,062-acre park located 11 miles northwest of town is a good destination for easy to moderate trail running. 13 miles of grass and crushed rock trails through, including a 1.4 mile loop around a lake.
Waterworks Prairie Park, located in the northern part of Iowa City, is a pleasant spot for a run. The park features 3 miles of trails around ponds & prairies. Combine with a section of the Iowa River Trail for a longer run.
In the area of the University of Iowa, some great running options: A high-end running track, cross-country course, and a nearly 10-mile trail passing through a series of parks.
One of our favorite routes in Iowa City. Combine the Iowa River Trail through Riverfront Crossings Park & Napoleon Park, and then a loop around Sand Lake in the Terry Trueblood Rec Area. Can add with Sycamore Greenway.
