In the area west of the University of Iowa campus, the Clear Creek Trail and Tiffin Trail form a nearly 10-mile linear park trail. Also enjoy a terrific running track and a well-known cross-country course.
Start either off the Iowa River Trail @ 1st Ave. or at the athletic complex area of the University of Iowa, where there’s the Francis X. Cretzmeyer Track. Head west on the Clear Creek Trail, a combination gravel and paved path passing through open & wooded terrain. You’ll be running west through Mormon Handcart Park and the University of Iowa Outdoor Research Area, where you can get off the trail and run the Ashton Cross-Country Course. Cross Camp Cardinal Blvd. and continue through the Clear Creek Greenbelt, along a creek in some sections. At 5.3 miles, you’ll reach I-80, where you can continue across the highway onto the paved, 4-mile Tiffin Trail, through Tiffin City Park. The trail ends at Half Moon Ave. NW.
Add-Ons. The Iowa River Trail at the east end, and also paths through the University of Iowa Campus.
