It’s worth the 15-minute drive from Barranquilla to enjoy a run along the Magdalena River in Las Flores. A dirt road, Calle 106, runs along the Magdalena River to where it meets the Caribbean Sea. It’s possible to run for 6 km one-way to the Virgen María, and possibly a bit further than that, to the end of the pier. There are great water views the whole way. Note that the Tren Bocas de Ceniza tourist train runs along here.

The first 2.5 km from Las Flores is on Calle 106. Then it turns into the Destapada Bocas De Ceniza along the El Plachón De Las Flores fishing pier. There are good water views, and a festive scene with numerous folks walking & fishing and a couple of bars & restaurants. There’s also some beachfront sections here that are nice for running. Note: this entire area is very exposed, so use caution in the sun & heat!
