The best options for a long off-road run in Daegu are the multi-use paths along the Sincheon (Sin-ch’on) River & Geumho River. This route is focused on the ~8 km along the Sincheon River, from just south of the Jungdongyo Bridge to the intersection with the Geumho River near Dongbuk-ro road. The path parallels Highway 11 (Sincheon-daero) but is along the water below the road.
This is a well-used cycle path, but also extensively used by pedestrians. There are good views of the water and the surrounding city the whole way. It’s quite open & exposed — not a lot of trees! Between km 5.5-7.5, there’s a separate path for pedestrians through a small park. At the intersection with the Geumho River at km 8.2, extend or vary the route with the Geumho River cycle path, which goes west along the river for 6 km or east and then south for up to 11.5 km.
Add-Ons/Variations. At the northern end of the Sincheon path, connect with the Geumho River path. There’s a pedestrian bridge that connects with the path headed south along the Geumho at km 8.2, just north of the Chimsangyo Bridge. Also at the northern end, Chimsan Park is a nice green spot. At km 6, the Gyeongdaegyo Bridge crosses the river to the KNU Campus where there’s a running track.
