Create your own running route around Huế’s historic Đại Nội Citadel. While it is not appropriate to run in the interior, there are wide pedestrian paths around the perimeter of the area that are wonderful for running. A major attraction of Huế, the Citadel is surrounded by a moat and thick stone walls, and encompasses the Imperial City, with palaces and shrines; the Forbidden Purple City (Tử cấm thành), once the emperor’s home; the Kiến Trung Palace; and a replica of the Royal Theater.

We’ve created a mapped route of the exterior and interior perimeter of the square-shaped area that can be used as a guideline. It’s ~4 km. It’s ~0.6 km north-south or east-west. You can add with the ~1 km east west paths south of the moat in the Stage of Flag (Kỳ Đài) area. The paths are wide and tree-lined, with great views to the Citadel and the other Imperial City sites.

Add-Ons:  Paths along the Perfume River, our signature run in Huế.
