The Aviation Bikeway is another longer distance off-road running option in Tucson. This paved multi-use path has the benefit of being located near downtown and Reid park, so it can be part of other routes. We will say this is not particularly interesting or scenic — it’s more of a bike commuter path.

The Aviation Bikeway runs for nearly 7 miles from N Stone Ave. (just north of Downtown), southeast to the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base Visitors Center. The first 5 miles follows busy Barraza-Aviation Parkway (SR 210), and then Golf Links Rd. There are some cool features along this trail: several tunnels & bridges (including snake-shaped Diamondback Bridge over E. Broadway Blvd.), and planes from Davis–Monthan AFB regularly flying overhead. Note the trail is a gradual uphill headed southeast, with much of the 264 foot elevation gain between miles 2.4-4.4.

Add-On/Combination Options: Can be combined with other routes near downtown, including University of Arizona, Reid Park.
