Canet-en-Roussillon is the closest waterfront location to Perpignan, lying just 10 km to the east. There’s nice running in Canet-en-Roussillon on a pleasant waterfront promenade (Prom. de la Côte Vermeille) path that runs for 3.3 km along the Plage du Grand Large (plage=beach). It’s a festive scene, with nice views of the wide, sandy beach and the water. Note:The beach has very soft, grainy sand and is not great for running. Bonus: Lit at night.
Promenade path. Fabricio Cardenas
The north end of the path is at Oniria – Aquarium Canet-en-Roussillon. We actually start with ~1 km out & back to the Lighthouse, on path along the scenic jetty. Then, run south for 3.3 along the wide, palm-lined beachfront promenade (Prom. de Côte Vermeille/Côte Radieuse/Charles Trenet). The south end is at Plage Mar Estang. The full route, including the jetty, is nearly 8 km out & back.
Alternative: There’s a dirt path that runs along the Têt River for 1.5 km. The east end is at the camping area, just north of Plage de Sardinal. Note it’s not an easy pedestrian connection from the Promenade path.

Scenic waterfront run in Port-Vendres, a typical Mediterranean fishing port on the Côte Vermeille near the spanish border. The 6.5 km route follows the scenic marina, and then a waterfront road out to a unique metallic lighthouse. Can combine with our Collioure route.
A nice run in the coastal town of Collioure, combining the waterfront path around the Château royal de Collioure, lighthouse, and waterfront road toward Port-Vendres. For an add-on challenge, run the the hilltop Fort Saint Elme.
Argelès-sur-Mer is a bustling coastal town located 25 km south of Perpignan, known for its beautiful beaches. The 3.5 km waterfront promenade (Promenade du Front de Mer) features great beach & water views. Add with a jaunt out to the lighthouse.
Terrific running in Saint-Cyprien, a coastal town known for its wide, sandy beach. Run a 5 km waterfront promenade (Baladoir de Saint-Cyprien plage), and then another 3 km on scenic paths around the port/marina, with nice views of the water, boats, & waterfront homes.
A nice run in Le Barcarès, a small coastal town on the Mediterranean east of Perpignan. Up to 8 km one-way, combining waterfront promenades, a marina, and a pine forest.
