This is a nice waterfront run in Port-Vendres, a typical Mediterranean fishing port on the Côte Vermeille near the spanish border. The 6.5 km route follows the scenic marina, and then a waterfront road out to a unique metallic lighthouse.
Start in the port area, at the end of which is the iconic La Vierge et l’Enfant (Statue de Notre-Dame de Bonne Nouvelle). Run south on the sidewalk around the marina. It’s one of the most scenic along the Vermilion Coast, with colorful buildings along the port, boats, and water views. After 1 km, stay along the Rte de la Jetée — a gravel waterside path. It’s rolling hills & nice water views along this ~2.2 km stretch out to the jetty and unusual metallic lighthouse (Feu métallique du môle). Retrace your steps to the start.
Longer Option: Combine with Collioure Route
It’s possible to combine the Collioure & Port-Vendres routes. The most direct — but more challenging — way is to take the Sentier Litteral, which is a more rugged seaside path that runs from near the Port-Vendres porr to the Plage des Batteries, which is the southern terminus of our Collioure route.
