Adventurous runners in Amman have plenty of options when it comes to running outside of the city, but one of the most scenic options is the 650 km Jordan Trail. This long distance hiking trail stretches from the north Jordan city of Umm Qais all the way south to the Red Sea. From Amman, the most accessible part of the trail is between As-Salt and Iraq Al-Amir. Some sections of the trail are mountainous and technical, but other sections are enjoyable to run (think wide gravel roads and gorgeous scenery). Those interested in exploring the Jordan Trail should contact Running Amman. This running group hosts three weekly group runs — including some fun sections of the Jordan Trail!
The Jordan Trail website has comprehensive information about the trail, its various sections, and level of difficulty.
