Lanie Fleischer Chester Creek Trail

Frank Kovalchek

One of the easiest and most accessible runs in Anchorage is the flat, four mile Chester Creek Trail, a paved path from Westchester Lagoon to Goose Lake. Though the trail passes through some residential neighborhoods, this protected greenbelt is largely surrounded by forests and public parks. (Restrooms are available at Tikishla and Woodside parks). Runners who want to tackle the whole 8 miles of the out and back can start at Goose Lake Park/Tikishla Park in the east, or Margaret Eagan Sullivan Park in the west. Either way, the path is a nice jog past lakes, disc golf courses, and the beautiful green banks of Chester Creek. On the west end, the Chester Creek Trail intersects with the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, offering the opportunity to extend your route to the north or south.
