Scheldt River – West Side to Sint-Annabos

Google Street View

There’s enjoyable running on both banks of the Scheldt River in Antwerp, with multiple distance options and side routes to other sites and running spots. This route highlights the west side of the river, from the Sint-Annatunnel north to the Sint-Annobos Park.

Start at the tunnel and head north, on the paved path, passing the Maritime Museum, with nice views of the river, boats, and Antwerp Old Town. At 1.5 km, the path turns slightly inland, passing a marina. Turn RIGHT on Jachthavenweg, running along the river again, passing the Sint Annastrand beach. You’ll then reach the Sint-Annobos Park, which is a large wooded area with numerous gravel paths. The adjacent Blokkersdijk nature preserve also has some paths.

Add-Ons: Additional paths in the nature preserve. Can also combine with our route on the east side of the river, using the Annatunnel to connect. On the west side of the river, there are some paths along the water that go south to the Galgenweel sailing club.
