Riverwalk: Unity Park to Tonawanda

Just across the river from Unity Park, runners can continue north on Buffalo’s Riverwalk Trail. This paved path follows the Niagra River and 190/266 all the way to Tonawanda, where the Erie Canal meets the Niagara River. The total span is about 9 miles one-way. Highlights include George Washington Park, Isleview Park, and the views over the South Grand Island Bridge. There are water views for some of the way. The southern 3 miles is right along the river, but also parallel to I-190.

Add-Ons: From Tonawanda, a path extends eastward on the south side of the Erie Canal for 1.4 miles.  Can also include our Bird Island Pier & Unity Island route.

  • Up to 8.8 miles (14.1 km) one-way
  • 117 feet (36m) one-way, south to north
