Mackerricher State Park features some scenic coastal running just north of Fort Bragg in Mendocino County. The highlight of the park is the five mile Mackerricher Coastal Trail, an old road that follows the coastline from Glass Beach to the Inglenook Fen-Ten Mile Dunes Natural Preserve.
The path is mainly paved. A lot of the path is wide groomed gravel, but there are also some fun boardwalk sections running through miles of breathtaking views. The section which runs the closest to the coast is the roughly two miles between Mill Creek and Ward Ave. There is parking in both these areas, so it’s a great choice for a shorter out and back from either end.
Add-Ons: Ten Mile Beach, located at the northern end of this trail offers some wonderful beach running. Can also continue south on the Noyo Headlands Trail.
