Features:
For a taste of pristine Cape May, set away from the boardwalk crowds, set out for Cape May Point State Park, which encompasses the wetlands and meadows along the shore of West Cape May. The trails here are both dirt and boardwalk ways that wind along ponds, marshlands, and small patches of forest east of the Cape May Lighthouse. Many visitors will park at the lighthouse lot and head in from there, but it gets busy in summer so if it’s full you can also try the Bird Observation lot off Sunset Boulevard. Starting from the lighthouse lot, a short loop around the ponds is about 1.5 miles. Starting from either lot, a full loop around the park is about 3.3 miles.
