There are some great running opportunities in a series of adjacent parks in the Dadukou District in the southern part of Chongqing. The centerpiece is Shuangshan Jinyu Park, which features numerous trails for running. Run this standalone or combine with Dadukou Park and Zhonghua Meide Park. There’s also a running track in the area.
Shuangshan Jinyu Park
Shuangshan Jinyu Park is situated in a residential area near Wangjiangludao Mountain Villa. There are walking trails as well as some more rugged trails for trail running. It’s long and narrow, ~3 km from north to south. A highlight for runners is the Dadukou “Sky Corridor” Trail, a 6.3 km long paved, accessible trail that runs along a cliff face. There are no steps — just fantastic views. And not too hilly! There are two entrances to Shuangshan Jinyu Park: North Gate and East Gate. There’s a running track just outside the park near the East Gate.
Dadukou Park & Zhonghua Meide Park
From the north end of Shuangshan Jinyu Park, it’s possible to run for ~2 km through Chuihui Park to Dadukou Park, using a combination of roads and trails. Dadukou Park, located in the area of the Jiugong Temple, is recently renovated, with some nicely landscaped trails and two small ponds. It’s ~1.5 km around the park.
You can also take a quick jaunt north to Zhonghua Meide Park, which is 500m north of Dadukou Park, crossing Wenti Rd. It’s another small, lovely park, with rolling hill trails winding around gardens, sculptures, and a pagoda. A loop of the park is ~1.5 km.
