Floral City ‘Avenue of the Oaks’

Creative Commons: DanTD
Citrus County is known for its towering oak trees. One of the best opportunities to enjoy these lovely trees and a lush canopy is in Floral City. Create your own route along some of the prettier roads in the area: a 1-mile section of Co. Rd. 48 (East Orange Ave.), centered around the Heritage Museum is especially nice, with a lovely sidewalk underneath an oak canopy. Off that, enjoy running on S Great Oaks Dr. and some of the other quieter streets east of Highway 41 (Magnolia, Marvin).  Combine with the Withlacoochee State Trail, a multi-use path that heads for miles in each direction, for a longer run!
Essentials
  • 3-4 miles of 'create your own route' running on area streets. Combine with Withlacoochee State Trail for a longer run
  • Floral City - Heritage Museum
  • Floral City Heritage Museum is a good access point
