Just east of Monaco, there’s a lovely running on a seafront promenade in Ventimigila, Italy. It’s easily accessible via driving or a short train ride from Monaco or Nice. Run along the ‘lungomare’ (seafront promenade), which has great views of the water and a festive scene with restaurants, shops, and a great outdoor market!  Our thanks to Joylin Nodwell for suggesting this route.

One can run for nearly 6 km one-way along the waterfront. Start in Ventimiglia at the public gardens near Marco Polo Beach. Head east on the Passeggiata Trento e Triest/Lungomare Varaldo for 1.7 km. It’s a wide waterfront path. To continue, follow the path to cross over the Nervia canal using a pedestrian bridge. Use the path to head back down to the seafront, and continue in Bordighera along Via G. Marconi, which also features a nice promenade path. The path continues for another 3.5 km along the beach to the dramatic Sant ‘Ampelio church, and just past there, a fun pier.

Notes: The path is well lit at night. There’s a train station in Bordighera, allowing for a one-way run!
