County Kerry Best Beaches for Running

Inch Beach. Creative Commons: Oliver Dixon

County Kerry has some fantastic beaches for running. Among our favorites:  (note: Beach is also referred to as Strand).

Inch Beach. One of the best beaches for running in Ireland. Setting for the filming of Ryan’s Daughter. Nearly 6 km of wide, uninterrupted beach, and fairly remote. Sand fairly firm. There’s a great pub here. Part of the Dingle Way Camp to Annascaul section.  We should also note that the R561 road running west of Inch Beach is right along the water and gorgeous for running. Though there’s no shoulder, it’s a fairly quiet road.

Ceann Trá/Carhoo Beach. Nice, wide beach along Ventry Harbour that’s great for running. It’s ~2.5 km long. Located 10 km west of Dingle, and part of the Dingle Way Dingle to Dunquin section.

Stradbally Beach. Located at the far northern end of the Dingle Peninsula. 2.4 km long, wide and great sand for running. Can extend by even more km south depending on season and tides.

Rossbeigh Strand. Lovely 2.7 km beach just across the water from Inch Beach, and off the northwest section of the Ring of Kerry.
