Šibenik features some of the most scenic and varied running options along the Dalmatian coast. We’ve mapped ~13 km along mainly dedicated waterfront paths, with great views of St. Anthony’s Channel, the Adriatic, and two famous fortresses!

Šibenik Train Station to Šibenik Beach. In central Šibenik, there’s a pleasant promenade along St. Anthony’s Channel that runs from the area around the train station/ferry terminal to Šibenik Beach. It’s 3.8 km out and back. For a longer run, and to get the heart rate going, head up the hill to St. Michael’s Fortress. There are numerous roads/paths heading there from near the Tourist Info Center.

St. Anthony’s Hiking Trail to St. Nicholas’ Fortress. 10.3 km one-way, 65m gain. This is the more spectacular of the Šibenik running options. Do all or part of a route that can be up to 20 km out and back!  From the Mandalina train station, there’s an enjoyable 2.4 km loop around the Šibenik Marina. Then, after a less scenic 1 km road connection, the St. Anthony’s Hiking Trail begins at the Kayaking Center. Our route takes the waterfront path for nearly 7 km. It’s 2.2 km from the Kayaking Center to a spot where the path leaves the water, climbing 40m over 1.5 km to a Lookout, then descending for 0.5 km back to the water. Continue for another 2 km along Uvala Minerska Bay to St. Nicholas Beach, then across the spectacular Most do otoka Školjića (bridge) to St. Nicholas’ Fortress. This bridge is a highlight!

  • There are additional paths in this area just inland from the waterfront path.
  • From St. Nicholas Beach, can connect to the Solaris area waterfront paths & lakes, 2.5 km south (see below)

Solaris Waterfront & Lakes. In Solaris, a recreation area near the Aquapark, we’ve mapped an 11.8 km loop including ~5.5 km of running along the water on a seaside promenade path, and then on quiet roads along two lakes: Mala Solina (Pink Lake) & Vela Solina (a popular swimming lake). Can also connect from Pink Lake to St., Nicholas Beach (2.5 km north), and pick up the St. Nicholas’ Fortress route (above).
