Tayport Common & Waterfront

Broughty Castle by Euan Nelson

Tayport is a commuter suburb of Dundee, located just across the Tay Road Bridge. One can put together a nice 5.5 mile run featuring Tayport Common, marina, and path put to two lighthouses!

Start with a ~1 mile loop around Tayport Common — a large field overlooking the water — and then the waterfront Promenade/Harbour Rd. to the marina. Then enjoy some of the nice paths around the Harbour. Continue west along Commonty Rd., to join the paved path at Commonty Park for 0.5 miles to the Tayport Low Lighthouse and Tayport High Lighthouse.  To make this a 5-miler, double back, and then take the gravel path west to the B946.  Retrace your steps to the start.

Add-Ons: There’s a path/sidewalk alongside the B946 for 0.6 miles toward the Tay Road Bridge. The 1.5 mile bridge over the Tay River is also runnable.

Essentials
  • Up to 5.5 miles (8.8 km) out and back
  • 57m (186 feet)
  • Tayport Common
