Edmonton, Alberta

Downtown Loop

This 7.5 km loop combines some of downtown Edmonton with a section along the river. A good starting point is the corner of Jasper Ave. and 109 St. NW in Edmonton’s downtown area. The entirety of this route is main roads, each of which have sidewalks that are safe for runners. Cross the 109th St. bridge over to the south side of the river, and enjoy ~3.5 km through Waterdale Park and Nellie McClung Park, either in the main road or paths. Then cross over the Connors Rd. NW Bridge, making your way back to the start point.

It is also possible to explore more of Edmonton’s downtown, whose grid system makes for easy navigation. Streets north of 104th Ave. NW are particularly good for running, notably the Westmount and Glenora areas. Streets are wide, with good sidewalks and set back homes.

Downtown is accessible by bus, with stops along the route or by car with parking available it the downtown area.
