Features:
There’s an extensive network of trail running options in the hills and forests near Freiburg. Some of these trails are considered to be part of the Black Forest. There are hundreds of km of trails, designated as ‘hiking’, but are also considered excellent for trail running. They range from wide, relatively flat paths through woods to more hillier and more technical trail running. A few recommendations for areas to explore:
Jägerbrunnen. Just south of the city. Large network of forest trails east of there. Tram Access: Wonnhalde. Parking: Waldparkplatz.
Wildtalereck. Northeast of the city. Head to the Gundelfingen area for extensive running opportunities on quiet roads and trails in this area. Combination of open, rolling hills past farms and some forested terrain.
